Prestigious International Field to Enter the Széchenyi Memorial Competition

The Count István Széchenyi Memorial begins on Thursday at the National Riding Hall – now in its 35th year. The total prize money for the competition is €74,800.
The Count István Széchenyi Memorial Competition commemorates a truly special occasion: On May 23, 1914, the predecessor of the Budapest Equestrian Club (BLK), the Budapest Equestrian Sports Association, held its first official show jumping tournament at the Budapest Tattersall.
Over four days, the best riders from Hungary and the region will compete in 18 events in the heart of Budapest. One of the largest fields in recent years will come to the National Riding Hall this week: 225 riders from ten nations and 321 horses will line up from Thursday to Sunday. Riders from across the region will meet here, with participants coming from Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Finland, Poland, Germany, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, as well as Hungary.
The weather is expected to be kind to the competitors, who will be able to ride in pleasantly mild conditions instead of the usual summer heat.
The highlights of the competition will be Friday’s €28,200 Big Tour and Sunday’s 1,45m Grand Prix with a prize money of €30,000 starting at 2:30 P.M. Admission is free on all four days.
On Friday evening, the Tatter Party awaits riders and the public. The Hungarian Equestrian Federation Awards Gala will take place on Saturday at 6 P.M., and the organizers cordially invite all interested parties to attend.
