New Record with 104 Starters in the 1.40m Competition

Thanks to the huge interest, the original prize money of €2,000 was increased to €4,000 in the afternoon’s Alpenspan Prize.

The number of starters broke a record in 2025 again in the 1.40m CSIO*** Medium Tour, presented by the Ministry of Defence, after a peak of 103 rider and horse pairs lined up in 2024. This year, one more, a total of 104 entries have been registered for the contest.

According to the relevant part of the international competition rules, if there are more than 100 declared starters, the competition must be split into as many groups as required to ensure no more than 100 starters in any group, and provide the same amount of prize money as indicated for the original competition for each group. So, as last year there were two first, second and third places, and a total of twelve riders were called to the prize-giving ceremony.

The victory was shared by Qatary Bassem Mohammed on Popeye de Tamise and Roland Kovács on Casallandia PS.

Melinda Schlezák, member of the jury, and Kristóf Szotyori Nagy, president of the Hungarian Jumping Division, congratulated the riders.

Only 24 clear rounds were registered. Surprisingly, a large number of riders withdrew from the competition. Many of them considered this competition as preparation for Friday’s Nations Cup. Another reason for the withdrawals was the high temperature. Riders wanted to familiarise their horses with the course without expending too much energy ahead of tomorrow’s featured competition.
