The last day of the 34th edition of the Count István Széchenyi Memorial kicked off with the final of the competition of 6- and 7-year-old horses.
Out of 44 competitors, 18 riders and horse pairs made it to the jump-off, so it was tough to capture even places. The winner of the semi-final and the previous indoor champion, Queen Of Zuccero bred by Tamás Makay, excelled again and took victory this time too. This was the seventh victory in her age group this year. She completed the jump-off with Henri Kovács on board with a one and a half second lead, faster than second placed Ádám Faluhelyi representing Fábiáncsics Riding Club on Victory Blue PS, owned by Szikriga Ltd.
Third place went to György Fekete on Kahuna.
Virág Budai finished fourth on Lady In Red bred by Alexandra Henze, ahead of Dáridó, ridden by Zoltán Drabant. Balázs Sándor closed sixth on M Leonardo. Eszter Bardóczky, representing Premium Horse Feeds Hungary, congratulated the top finishers.
Johanna Fábián’s Perfect First Bronze Tour Final
The second event in the Count István Széchenyi Memorial’s closing day was the 125cm Bronze Tour Final designed by László Karádi. In a contest against the clock, 64 riders lined up at the start. The final rankings could be decided after a nail-biting competition.
The talents of the Hungarian national Children’s team, Johanna Fábián and Rodrigo Szuhai, both aged only 13, previously have been competing in the Silver Tour, but due to the maximum height limit required in the international rules, they could only compete in the Bronze Tour final.
However, in the field of mostly adult riders, they also did well. Johanna Fábián, coached by Sára Szabó-Máriás, took the gold on Chabal TH, followed by Rodrigo Szuhai, trained by his father, in the saddle of Cornet.
Emma Mécs captured third place on Aurora, ahead of Annamária Zárug and Zsófia Hermann, who is also preparing for the European Children’s Championships. Sixth place went to Emma H. Nagy on Hopfully.
Anna Janik Best U25
The penultimate event of the István Széchenyi Memorial was the 135cm U25 final, a competition against the clock.
There were relatively few clear rounds thanks to the difficulty of the parcour’s design. However, the riders at the end of the event took the lead with increasingly better times, making the finishers anxious to see who would be the winner. In the end, the best time was set by Anna Janik, who was the last runner-up, more than two and a half seconds faster than Sára Szabó-Máriás, who was leading the field.
Third place went to German Joel Ehinger, ahead of Sarah-Denise Fink and Aliz Alasztics.
Sixth place was taken by Lea Csetényi on Hámor, a pair who have been regularly placed in international youth Grand Prix.
